We all agree that we love this sweet torturous dessert (or else you wouldn’t be here). However, as appealing as having this yummy dessert every week sounds like, it’s not healthy, even for your pocket! Unless you learn how to make it yourself, it will be a lot more pocket-friendly, so here are the top five hacks to make a basic chocolate cake at home that you can use to soothe your sudden cravings. Read on:

First things first, to know the basic steps you need to know the basic ingredients, so here are the things you need to bake a basic chocolate cake:

  • Unsweetened Cocoa Powder, make sure you always have some at home
  • Chocolate Bars and Compounds
  • All-purpose flour, well for obvious reason and if you are not aware of those reasons, maybe you shouldn’t be here.
  • Sugar
  • Baking Powder
  • Salt
  • Unsalted butter sticks
  • Eggs
  • Vegetable oil
  • Some cream if you wanna frost up your cake

And lastly

  • Some vanilla extracts if you like, it’s optional but can surely change the taste and aroma of the cake.

Now that you know all the basic things you need let’s get to the main steps:

  1. The first thing you must always remember is to never buy low-quality stuff. We all wanna save a few bucks, but not on the cost of our health! So first remember that the ideal temperature of the oven should be 325 °F for a normal chocolate cake, so preheat your oven to the above-mentioned temperature.
  2. Next, butter up your cake pan so that the cake never sticks to it. Now take sugar and butter in a bowl and start mixing them, mix the two with a whisk until it becomes light and fluffy. Remember that the tenderness and texture of the cake depend upon how well you mix these ingredients, hence mix as much as you can.
  3. Then add eggs, flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt into the bowl and start beating vigorously until it becomes fully fluffy. Add sour cream, vanilla, and vegetable oil and mix it properly. Once you are satisfied with the thickness of the batter, keep it aside.
  4. Now take the cocoa powder and mix it with one and a half cups of hot water and start whisking until the mixture becomes extremely smooth, then keep it aside. Let it cool down a little and once it’s cold enough, start beating the cocoa mixture at low speed. It’s better if you use a mixture to do it but a whisk would work fine as well. Once it becomes fluffy, finish mixing it up with a plastic spatula.
  5. Now take the buttered up cake pan and pour the mixture into it, after filling it up tap the pan lightly on top of the table to get rid of all the little air bubbles and help settle the batter properly. Now place the pan in the oven and bake for 30 to 40 minutes straight, after it’s done take a toothpick and poke the cake with it to check if the cake is done or not, if the pick comes out clean the cake is ready. Now set the cake aside without moving much to cool it down for around ten minutes. After that take a knife and run the knife along the edges of the pan to make sure that it’s not sticking to the pan. Now open your pan and place the cake wherever you want. You can also cut the edges of the cake to level it up according to your liking. Your cake is ready to be served and devoured.
